Lazy Sunday Boozy Brunch at La Barra

La Barra has reopened with new interiors and a slightly different concept. Click here for the venue listing.
La Barra has just launched a "Lazy Sunday Brunch" featuring Spanish-inspired brunch dishes and free-flow. Truffled eggs, grilled octopus, and a great free-flow deal.
La Barra - The Space

Cocktail lounge La Barra is the sister venue of popular Mediterranean restaurant Bonica. Located upstairs of Bonica, the space has Spanish-Malaysian inspired décor, a nod to their co-founders heritage. It’s spacious and open with finishings of batik prints, tropical plants, rattan, and cobalt pottery and tiles. It’s very chic, to say the least.

There are low wooden lounge tables in the inside-outside atrium space, a popular area for brunching due to the natural light from the sunroof, and more lounge seating around the corner for larger groups.

There's also a narrow terrace, one that will be fully utilized for brunch come warmer months.
What's On The Menu

The Lazy Sunday Brunch starts at 1pm, and it's boozy with two free-flow deals. As for the food, Chef Marco Chavez has a short and sweet menu of classed-up eggy staples and desserts in addition to La Barra's regular evening menu of grilled skewers and tapas.
Here's what to expect:

Eggs Benedict with Salmon (¥78) - Smoked salmon, spinach and hollandaise sauce on an English muffin. A classic brunch dish.

Sunny Side Up with Bacon & Bread (¥68) in a sea of green and red salsa. Both salsas are excellent, and great for mopping up with their toasted sourdough bread.

Truffled Scrambled Eggs with Mushrooms (¥98) - My favorite from the brunch menu. It’s a bowl of ultra fluffy, creamy scramble, an assortment of mushrooms, and shaved black truffle, served with crispy flatbread. It’s not something I’d want to share—it’s that good.

Omelette (¥88) with cheese and roasted chorizo bits.

Cream & Berries (¥48) - Yogurt ice cream with whipped cream and seasonal berries. A light, refreshing dessert to combat a heavy brunch.

Pancakes (¥68) - Three pancakes layered with Nutella, banana, and cinnamon-seasoned banana mash.

Hazelnut Bomb (¥72) - A petit bread pastry with hazelnut, filled with cream and chocolate.
Dishes from the regular menu lean towards tapas, which are great for sharing. Tack on a couple of those for the table. And there are also freshly shucked oysters.

Parmesan Crackers with Guacamole (¥88/three) - Chunky guacamole sandwiched between Parmesan cheese crackers.

Spring Rolls (¥68/three) - Hibiscus flavored spring rolls with seasonal vegetables in a tangy dressing, served with a mildly spicy chili oil to dip. (Also vegan.)

Tuna Tostadas (¥88/three) - Cubed pieces of tuna with chipotle aioli and avocado in crispy tostadas with green chilies and shallots. This is excellent.

Octopus Skewers (¥128) - If you've had the octopus from Bonica, you know the caliber of their craft. These are charcoal grilled, served with a chili mayo. Excellent.

Grilled Cucumber with Tahini (¥58)

Oysters, ready for shucking.
Drinks situation
There are two free-flow packages available from 1pm-3:30pm.
The Premium Free-Flow (¥328) includes selected cava, red and white wine, frozen mezcal margaritas, Aperol Spritz, Bloody Mary, Moscow Mule, Botanist gin, and beer. The Luxury Free-Flow (¥528) includes all of the above plus Billecart-Salmon Brut Champagne.

Frozen mezcal margaritas

Botanist Gin cocktails

And even a build your own gin station.

And of course Bloody Marys, my favorite.
